What is fibrosis?

It is non-specific damage characterised by hyperplasia of connective tissues with a proliferation of fibroblasts or fibrocytes that produce collagen. In short, it is a type of scarring. In the case of hepatitis, there is hepatic fibrosis which describes the scars found in the liver after years of inflammation.
